Set in a vintage wooden frame, No. 27, Scherzo was designed by Rudolph Bauer in 1936 as part of the Solomon R. Guggenheim collection of non-objective paintings. Mounted on a silver matte, the total framed work measures 9.75” x 12” x approx 1”.
Rudolph Bauer was a pioneering German-born artist who along with Vasily Kandinsky was among the first abstract artists in the world. Bauer belonged to the avant-guarde group, Der Sturm in Berlin.
