object description
This large platter is perfect for a roast or turkey and is part of the collaboration between Joan Miró and Bernardaud inspired by Miró's illustrations for Paul Éluard’s book of poems 'À Toute Épreuve'. Each hand-painted piece of porcelain captures Miró's playful imagery and use of line and color. The end result is a vibrant collection of tableware and homeware from the esteemed fabricator.
Joan Miró was born in Barcelona in 1893 and was a key figure of the 20th century avant-garde. His innovative use of line, color and natural forms is seen as the fundamental principle of Surrealist art, that is to say producing works that free the creative potential of the subconscious. His playful imagery and network of lines give a fantastical aspect to his abstract pictures.
